Hitch, Post #2

Hitch
The classic 2005 romantic comedy Hitch stars Will Smith. He plays a relationship guru, a.k.a. the Date Doctor, who helps guys get into strong relationships with women they would otherwise be unable to interact with. However like any movie it is filled with tumultuous conflicts, and in true romantic style filled with miscommunication that ultimately leads to heartbreak. While trying to help his current client Albert get in with socialite Allegra Cole, Hitch meets someone, Sarah, whom he now can’t seem to apply his own advice too.
Though these two relationships begin on solid ground. A client soon reveals Hitch’s identity to a gossip column reporter who is none other than Sarah. This knowledge soon graces the front page of magazines throughout the city and these two relationships begin to crumble. It turns out the source for Sarah’s article was someone Hitch refused to work with and conveyed the wrong ideas about what Hitch does for a job. His goal isn’t just to get guys laid; he helps them create healthy strong relationships. However Sarah refuses to accept Hitch again and Allegra despises Albert because she feels used and cheated. Hitch then endeavors to fix both relationships by explaining what he actually does and hoping they will forgive him and Albert.

The miscommunication throughout ultimately leads to the demise of both relationships. Communication is the ranked one of the most important aspects to creating a long lasting relationship in almost any study on relationships. Hitch represents an ideal situation where miscommunication turns it for the worst.
