“The Lion King” was a very good movie to watch for HCOM 214 because there was many interpersonal conflicts between the characters. Right in the first five minutes of the movie the viewer can notice tensions between two main characters, brothers Scar and Mufasa, as well as Mufasa’s son Simba. The lion King is a classic Disney movie that portrays a young lion cubs difficult journey to adulthood. The beginning of the movie starts with the birth of the young cub Simba an heir to his father, Mufasa the king of the pride lands. From the very beginning it is not hard to identify the antagonist, Scar brother to Mufasa, and the rightful heir to the throne up until Simba’s birth. This event fuels Scars hatred for his brother even more, and now his newfound hatred for his young nephew Simba. Simba begins to grow into a young and youthful lion. Father Mufasa explains to Simba his destiny to lead the animals of the pride lands. Mufasa warns Simba never to venture away from pride rock, especially into the shadowlands. Of course, the shadow lands is where scar and his posse of loyal hyenas live. Scar and the hyenas hatch a plan to get rid of Mufasa and Simba for good so that he may take his place on the throne. His plan only half works, unfortunately  Mufasa is killed by Scar, however Simba lives but is banished from the kingdom and left for dead in the drylands. Luckily for Simba he is rescued by two unlikely characters, Timone and Pumba, a meerkat and a hog, This duo takes Simba and raises him as their own in the heart of the jungle. years later Nala returns and finds Simba to convince him to come back to the pride lands and defeat Scar. Simba is reluctant but eventually agrees to come back and fulfill his destiny. He returns to his childhood home to see it in shambles and he’s is extremely angry. He battles of Scar and Scar pleads for his life to his nephew, he explains that it was the hyenas fault that things turned out the way they did. The hyenas over here this and kill scar themselves as retribution.

  1. Nice rendering of the plot elements, but what about a personal analysis of the interpersonal conflict elements within the story?
